Anne Houtman is an independent consultant specialising in energy and energy policy. She is the chair of the Advisory Board of EnergyVille. She trained as a mathematician, earning a PhD in Statistics from Princeton University. Leaving behind an academic career, Anne joined the European Commission to work on competition and State aid. She was deputy-head of cabinet of Romano Prodi during his term as President of the European Commission, and was subsequently appointed director in Directorate-General for Internal Market, then in DG Transport and Energy. She later served as principal advisor in the Directorate-General for Energy. She spent four years as Head of the European Commission Representation in France.
Anne Houtman has been a lecturer at the Institut d’études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris) and is a member of the Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique.
