Joost Korte is an European policy advisor, a trainer and a coach. Starting his career as an academic specialising in European Law, he joined the European Commission where held a string of very influential positions. He served in the cabinets of Sir Leon Brittan, Chris Patten and Danuta Hübner. He has extensive experience of negotiations at the Council of Ministers and with the European Parliament on high-stake subjects, and represented the European Commission in the legislative trialogues. He was Deputy Director-General, first for Enlargement, then for Agriculture, and for Trade. He was appointed Director-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion in 2018.
Joost Korte has been a guest lecturer at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, and at the European University Institute in Florence. He is also engaged in training member States officials in preparation for their European Union presidencies.
